Chiropractic - Erchonia Adjustor

Can chiropractic adjustments be gentle without the drop table?  Dr. Rebekah says “Yes!  Of course they can!”

Chiropractic adjustments help stimulate the body to heal itself.  Traditionally, chiropractors have used single, high velocity, low amplitude thrusts with their hands to perform a chiropractic adjustment.  The adjustment stimulates neural receptors in the area, which then relay crucial information to the brain.  This generates a neurological feedback stream to the brain to update its awareness of certain areas of the body. Over the years, patient care has become more complex, injuries and symptoms more in-depth, creating a demand for a more comprehensive, gentle approach to health care.

Dr. Rebekah became acutely aware of this as she transitioned from the medical field to the chiropractic world.  The Erchonia Adjustor is a hand-held device that creates this gentle approach. When used, it produces a succession of rapidly repeating, high velocity-low amplitude pulses along the spine, generating a gentle and specific adjustment.  The force can be increased or decreased by adjusting the pressure of the instrument, allowing Dr. Rebekah to use the Adjustor as an extension of her own hands.

The Adjustor activates patient’s proprioceptors and mechanoreceptors without recruiting nociceptors (pain receptors), creating a similar neurological feedback stream to the brain as a traditional adjustment. There is no popping, twisting, or cracking of your spine with its use.  Dr. Rebekah finds this tool especially useful in patients who require a different level of care.

“Not everyone can lie prone on the adjusting table and not every body can tolerate a manual adjustment.  This tool allows me to adjust you sitting upright, lying on their side, or standing.  It facilitates adjustments through ranges of motion that have been restricted and puts patients at ease throughout their visit. It really compliments the gentle drop table adjustments I use on other areas of the body.”

While other professions are concerned with changing the environment to suit the weakened body, chiropractic is concerned with strengthening the body to suit the environment.
